2018: Gefälschtes "Augmentin" ohne Antibiotika in Kamerun im Umlauf

An NGO working with the Minilab of the Global Pharma Health Fund (GPHF) identified a falsified version of the fixed-dose combination antibiotic Augmentin in Cameroon, West Africa. The fake product did not contain any amoxicillin or clavulanic acid. Both drug compounds are key antibiotics from the WHO model list of essential medicines. Antibiotics are widely used for the treatment of bacterial infections. An effective treatment is essential for the patients to recover and the recovery is adversely hampered by fake and poor quality medicines. More on this can be found in the corresponding WHO Medical Product Alert 2/2018 or on GPHF’s Facebook timeline.
