GPHF-Minilab™: New manual edition 2020
The GPHF has been publishing Minilab manuals with annual extensions and updates since 1998. Since 2010, they have been published together with the USAID Promoting the Quality of Medicines (PQM) programme implemented by the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP). For the new 2020 edition, all former Minilab manuals and supplements have been overhauled and combined now forming a single volume of 450 pages which replaces all former issues. In addition to the review, the new edition includes ten further test protocols for ten further active pharmaceutical ingredients. Next to preliminary physical tests, the new “Concise Quality Control Guide on Essential Drugs and other Medicines” now contains a total of 100 thin-layer chromatographic test protocols for 100 essential active pharmaceutical ingredients including a multitude of solid and liquid formulations, salt forms, dosage strengths and fixed-dose combination products. The updated and extended method inventory fits existing Minilabs. Only the collection of reference samples has to be expanded appropriately. Today’s review and extension consolidates the experience made in the past twenty years. We at the GPHF thank all those who have given input and guidance in all these years. This method inventory reduces science to working practice. It forms the base of each GPHF-Minilab™. Avoiding faults and erroneous test results, it is essential that the tests and instructions given in this manual are carefully studied and closely followed when working with the GPHF-Minilab™.
